Your endgame is a probability problemand the numbers just changed
Everything past PEN (V) Tuvala and PEN (V) Kharazad — rebuilt around Heidel Ball 2026 and the Korean Global Lab patch that introduces Hyperboost.
Three enhancement tracks, ten levels each, and success rates that fall from roughly seven-in-ten to under one-in-a-hundred. This guide gives you the published odds, the pity ceilings that bound them, and the decision rules for when buying beats rolling.
The odds ladder
Success rate at each item’s soft-cap failstack, drawn to true linear scale. The bars are honest: below about 5% they become hairlines, which is the point.
Kharazad accessories
Sovereign weapons
Edana’s Defense Gear
Hyperboost re-baselines the whole early endgame
Pearl Abyss framed it as catch-up for new and returning players, but the patch note is explicit that the benefits apply to existing adventurers too. It deletes the old boss-gear exchange route, buffs PEN Tuvala to boss-gear display values, and hands out a full set of PEN (V) Kharazad accessories, free Ancient armour, and a fifth PEN Blackstar.
The Boss Equipment Exchange Voucher is gone
PEN (V) Tuvala weapons and armour have had their displayed AP and DP raised to match PEN (V) boss equipment, and every Tuvala stage was rescaled to suit. Because Tuvala now stands on its own, the voucher can no longer be obtained and all boss-gear exchange quests are removed. Any voucher still in your inventory at the 29/30 July maintenance is deleted and replaced with a 1,000G Gold Bar, whether you like it or not.
What you are given
| Item | How you get it | Cost or condition |
|---|---|---|
| PEN (V) Kharazad, all six slots | Alustin of Velia quest chain | 10× Essence of Dawn + 50× Sharp Black Crystal Shard per piece. Once per family. |
| PEN (V) Blackstar weapon | Challenge (Y), on completing the Olvia Academy Admission Procedure quest | Free, on enrolment |
| 4× Obsidian Hammer | New rewards on existing Olvia Academy Combat course quests | Free — brings you to five PEN Blackstars total |
| Gem of Twilight | Combat Course: The Outcast | Free |
| Garmoth’s Heart | Combat Course: Completion of Combat Studies | A second one. Challenge requirement also cut from 200h to 100h family playtime. |
| Labreska’s Helmet | Black Shrine (Solo) — Golden Pig King Calamity 8 | AP 305+ |
| Ator’s Shoes (choose 1) | Black Shrine (Solo) — Golden Pig King Calamity 9 | AP 310+ |
| Fallen God’s Armor | Black Shrine (Solo) — Sangoon Calamity 8 | AP 310+ |
| Dahn’s Gloves (choose 1) | Black Shrine (Solo) — Gumiho Calamity 8 | AP 315+ |
| 100 Embers of the Primordial | 50 from Black Shrine C8+ first clears, 50 from Olvia Academy | 100 Embers heat into one Flame of the Primordial |
The four armour pieces are untradable and heat for 1,500 Cron Stones each if you already own better.
The difficulty cuts that make the free armour reachable
Those Black Shrine bosses were, until this patch, well out of reach for a fresh graduate. Entry AP falls by 20–40 and boss HP and damage fall by roughly two thirds to three quarters.
| Boss | Difficulty | Entry AP | HP | Boss ATK | Summon ATK |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Golden Pig King | Calamity 8 | 330 › 305 | −74% | −71% | −86% |
| Calamity 9 | 350 › 310 | −74% | −70% | −86% | |
| Sangoon | Calamity 8 | 330 › 310 | −72% | −65% | −87% |
| Calamity 9 | 350 › 330 | −59% | −52% | −74% | |
| Gumiho | Calamity 8 | 345 › 315 | −72% | −69% | −69% |
| Calamity 9 | 355 › 335 | −67% | −68% | −68% |
Black Shrine – Donghae (Solo) is limited to 5 raids per week, resetting 00:00 Sunday. Sangoon C9 and Gumiho C9 also gate chapters 7 and 8 of Emma Bartali’s Journal, so the C9 cuts matter twice over.
Where you stand, and what to start first
Pearl Abyss set an explicit target for the end of the catch-up funnel: 730 gear score, meaning Attack plus Defense. The whole Hyperboost package is tuned to deposit you there after a season and the Olvia Academy combat course.

Weapons
Five free PEN Blackstars feed three Sovereign weapons: mainhand, awakening, sub. Untradable, so you build them yourself.
Armour
Four free Ancient pieces enhance through the Slumbering Origin stages, then convert into Edana’s Defense Gear.
Accessories
Free PEN set from Alustin, grown through Emma Bartali’s Journal, then into one of two new endgame lines.
Run armour first, then accessories, then weapons
This is a judgement call rather than a patch note, so here is the reasoning. Armour is gated by weekly lockouts — five Black Shrine solo raids, one Piece of Edana quest per week — so every week you delay is throughput you can never recover. Accessories are gated by Essence of Dawn, which accumulates passively while you grind. Weapons are the most Cron-hungry and least forgiving, and the Heidel Ball login rewards drip Crons out over eight weeks, so weapons reward waiting until you are rich. Start the clocks that cannot be caught up.
Where the new gear expects you to grind
| Zone | Available | AP / DP | Why you care |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gavinya Coastal Cliff (Sulfur Golems) | 29 Jul KR / 30 Jul Global | 400 / 470 | Drops Deboreka necklace, earring, belt and ring — the direct input to Kharazad crafting. Also Primordial Pigment and Luster, Corrupt Oil of Immortality, Al-Yurad’s Merchant Ring Piece. |
| Edania Part 2 domains | 12 August | 400–420 / 470–510 | Five domains: Agris, Markthanan, Elion, Aal, Hadum. Source of Ekreta and Aperon enhancement materials. |
Gavinya Coastal Cliff recommended total stats 1,990 / 820; monster zone AP limit 2,020; status effects knockdown and bound. Agris’ Fever cost 16 per Colossus of Sulfur Rock, 77 per sulfur stalagmite.
Weapons — Blackstar to Sovereign
Sovereign weapons are Primordial tier and the best in the game. There are three: mainhand, awakening and sub. They cannot be registered on or purchased from the Central Market, which settles the buy-versus-enhance question before it is asked. You build these yourself; the only market decision is which inputs to buy.
The five free PEN Blackstars
Before Hyperboost, every player could claim two free TET and two free PEN Blackstar weapons once per family, from Challenge (Y) and Olvia Academy, at level 61+ with a qualifying main questline complete. Hyperboost adds a fifth: the admission gift for enrolling in Olvia Academy, plus four more Obsidian Hammers through the Combat course. Blackstars from these boxes cannot be listed on the Central Market, and only non-season characters can open the box and equip the weapon.
Crafting a Sovereign
Craft at the Bonghwang Statue atop Mount Ahshi in the Land of the Morning Light. The Sovereign is created for the class you are logged in as, regardless of which class’s Blackstar you feed it — but mainhand feeds mainhand and awakening feeds awakening. Remove any Garmoth’s, Karanda or Kutum Heart first with a Mirror of Equilibrium.
Mainhand and awakening
| Method | Inputs | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | PEN (V) Blackstar ×1 + Flame of the Primordial ×1 | The Hyperboost route. 100 Embers heat into one Flame, and Hyperboost hands you exactly 100. |
| 2 | PEN (V) Blackstar ×2 (same weapon type) | The route the five free PEN Blackstars are designed for. |
| 3 | PEN (V) Blackstar ×1 + PEN boss weapon at Caphras 20 + Gem of Twilight | Most expensive. Kzarka or Offin for mainhand, Dandelion for awakening. |
Sub-weapon
| Method | Inputs | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | PEN (V) Blackstar sub ×2 + Gem of Twilight | Two PEN subs required. |
| 2 | PEN (V) Blackstar sub + PEN Kutum (C20) + PEN Nouver (C20) | Only if you already own both offhands deep. |
| 3 | PEN (V) Blackstar sub + Gem of Twilight + Gem of the Primordial | Gem of the Primordial is 1,000 Primordial Fragments, from Jordine’s Realm. |
| 4 | PEN (V) Blackstar sub ×1 + Primordial Flame ×1 + Gem of Twilight ×1 | New in the 26 July Global Lab patch. One PEN sub instead of two — the cheapest sub route yet if you have a spare Flame. |
Gem of Twilight = Magical Shard ×100 + Caphras Stone ×20,000 (Processing › Heating). Shai cannot currently use Sovereign awakening weapons; Shai upgrades to a Primordial Artina Sol instead, and Global Lab adds a once-per-family quest to swap a PEN (V) Tuvala Sol for a PEN (V) Artina Sol.
Sovereign enhancement — the hard numbers
Enhancement uses Primordial Black Stones (Primordial Crystal ×1 + Sharp Black Crystal Shard ×2 + Caphras Stone ×10, heated). Both Primordial Crystals and Primordial Black Stones are tradable. Each failure costs 20 max durability. J’s Hammer of Loyalty cannot be used on Sovereign weapons.
| Step | Base % | Soft cap FS | Max % | Avg tries | Unlucky 10% | Crons / try | Agris |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| +0 › PRI | 8.5500 | 60 | 59.8500 | 1.7 | 3 | — | 3 |
| PRI › DUO | 4.1200 | 75 | 35.0200 | 2.9 | 6 | 320 | 5 |
| DUO › TRI | 2.0000 | 90 | 20.0000 | 5.0 | 11 | 560 | 10 |
| TRI › TET | 0.9100 | 100 | 10.0100 | 10.0 | 22 | 780 | 20 |
| TET › PEN | 0.4690 | 150 | 7.5040 | 13.3 | 30 | 970 | 30 |
| PEN › HEX | 0.2730 | 210 | 6.0060 | 16.7 | 38 | 1,350 | 35 |
| HEX › SEP | 0.1600 | 240 | 4.0000 | 25.0 | 57 | 1,550 | 50 |
| SEP › OCT | 0.1075 | 270 | 3.0100 | 33.2 | 76 | 2,250 | 75 |
| OCT › NOV | 0.0485 | 300 | 1.5035 | 66.5 | 152 | 2,760 | 165 |
| NOV › DEC | 0.0242 | 300 | 0.7502 | 133.3 | 306 | 3,920 | 330 |
Max % is the total success rate at the listed soft-cap failstack. Avg tries is 1/p. Unlucky 10% is the attempt count within which nine players in ten will have succeeded — budget against this column, not the average. Agris is the Ancient Anvil pity value.
Read the TRI to TET wall before you commit
Sovereign is brutally front-loaded. Base to TRI is cheap and fast. TRI to TET at 10.01% already averages ten attempts, and one player in ten needs more than twenty-one. From TET onward you are into single digits where the pity counter, not the dice, does the work. If you are building three Sovereigns, get all three to TRI before pushing any to TET — the AP per silver is far higher there.
Armour — Ancient to Slumbering to Edana
Three stages. You start with the four Ancient pieces — Labreska’s Helmet, Fallen God’s Armor, Dahn’s Gloves, Ator’s Shoes — which Hyperboost now gives free. You enhance those through the Slumbering Origin stages. Then you convert them into Edana’s Defense Gear, the best-in-slot set.
Slumbering Origin mechanics
Slumbering Origin gear has six levels, named rather than numbered: base, Desperate, Distorted, Silent, Wailing (the TET equivalent) and Obliterating (the PEN equivalent). Enhancement uses Flawless Chaotic Black Stones. A failure drops the level by one and reduces max durability by 30.
Crystal of Origin items protect against that level drop. Ancient Anvil stacks still accumulate on a protected failure, but your enhancement chance does not increase and the crystal is consumed either way.
| Protection item | Protects | Obtained | Tradable |
|---|---|---|---|
| Desperate Crystal of Origin | Desperate › Distorted | Manage Currency: Seal of the Undying, Dark Spirit’s Greed, Dehkima: Token of the Oath, Olvia Academy Coin | No — NPC sale 10,000,000 Silver |
| Distorted Crystal of Origin | Distorted › Silent | Heating: Distorted Fragment of Origin ×50 + Magical Shard ×100 | Yes |
| Silent Crystal of Origin | Silent › Wailing | Heating: Silent Fragment of Origin ×50 + Magical Shard ×100 | Yes |
The four Ancient pieces share one pity counter
Labreska’s Helmet, Fallen God’s Armor, Dahn’s Gloves and Ator’s Shoes share the same enhancement chances and the same Agris’ Essence pool. Essence earned failing on one piece counts toward a guaranteed enhancement on any of them, so leftover progress is never stranded. Enhancing all four in parallel is more efficient than finishing one at a time. Base enhancement chance on these pieces is roughly 2%, Cron protection starts around 1,500 per attempt, and there is no Caphras or force-enhance option. Characters with negative karma can have the enhancement level lowered on death.
The pity cut — the best armour news in the patch
Hyperboost slashes the Agris’ Essence requirement across the whole Slumbering Origin chain. Silent to Wailing in particular drops from 50 to 20 — a 60% reduction on the most painful armour step in the game, and the gate to Edana conversion.
| Enhancement step | Before | After 29/30 July | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| +0 › Desperate | 12 | 8 | −33% |
| Desperate › Distorted | 15 | 10 | −33% |
| Distorted › Silent | 20 | 12 | −40% |
| Silent › Wailing | 50 | 20 | −60% |
The reduction covers +0 through Silent › Wailing only. Wailing to Obliterating is not in the list and is unchanged — the cheap window stops helping exactly where Edana’s biggest payoff begins. Alongside this, Desperate Crystal of Origin gets easier to stockpile: the Olvia Academy Coin exchange goes from 10 exchanges at 30 coins to 20 exchanges at 10 coins, Dark Spirit’s Greed and Seal of the Undying each rise from 8 to 10, and Embers of the Primordial exchanges double from 5 to 10.
Converting to Edana’s Defense Gear
Crafted at the Edana’s Fragment NPC east of the Litovan Mountains node. Requires the [Edana’s Defense Gear] A Piece of Secret pre-quest (level 60+, plus the [Aetherion] Return quest from the Edania main story). The armour must be unequipped to accept the quest.
The single highest-leverage decision in the armour track
A Wailing (TET) Slumbering piece converts into a base Edana piece. An Obliterating (PEN) Slumbering piece converts into a NOV (IX) Edana piece. That is nine enhancement levels handed over free, including steps that individually sit at 2–7%. Going base to NOV yourself means clearing HEX, SEP, OCT and NOV, which average 15, 17, 20 and 43 attempts respectively. Pushing Slumbering one stage further before converting is not a marginal optimisation — it is the difference between weeks and months.
Crafting is a weekly quest and you may complete only one of the four per week, resetting Thursday 00:00 UTC. A full set therefore takes a minimum of four weekly resets. Each conversion consumes one Piece of Edana.
| Edana piece | Slot | Consumes |
|---|---|---|
| Edana – Heavensmite | Helmet | Wailing Labreska’s Helmet + Piece of Edana ×1 |
| Edana – Abyssveil | Armour | Wailing Fallen God’s Armor + Piece of Edana ×1 |
| Edana – Oathgrip | Gloves | Wailing Dahn’s Gloves + Piece of Edana ×1 |
| Edana – Furystride | Shoes | Wailing Ator’s Shoes + Piece of Edana ×1 |
Piece of Edana sources
| Boss | Weekly quest | Pieces | Entry |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jordine Ducas | [Weekly] For the Throne: Aetherion | 1 | 350+ AP / 427+ DP |
| Rusalka | [Weekly] For the Throne: Nymphamaré | 2 | 375+ AP / 440+ DP |
| Enslar | [Weekly] For the Throne: Orbita | 3 | 385+ AP / 445+ DP |
Only one of the three per week; resets Thursday 00:00 UTC. Entry requires at least red-grade weapons, defense gear and accessories (artifacts and alchemy stones excluded). Bahram’s Secret Deal is a separate once-per-family chain giving 5 Pieces of Edana for five PRI (I) Deboreka accessories — find Bahram in Hakinza Sanctuary after the Edania main story. Take Enslar every week you can clear him: three pieces against one is a threefold difference in armour throughput.
Edana enhancement — the hard numbers
Uses Edana’s Black Stone (Piece of Edana ×1 + Sharp Black Crystal Shard ×3 + Caphras Stone ×20, heated). This consumes the same weekly-limited Piece of Edana that crafting does — your weekly boss clear is the true bottleneck on this entire track.
| Target level | Failstack | Success % | Avg tries | Unlucky 10% | Crons / try | Agris |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PRI (I) | +120 | 68.90 | 1.5 | 2 | — | 2 |
| DUO (II) | +150 | 47.20 | 2.1 | 4 | 890 | 3 |
| TRI (III) | +180 | 31.35 | 3.2 | 7 | 910 | 5 |
| TET (IV) | +210 | 24.20 | 4.1 | 9 | 940 | 8 |
| PEN (V) | +240 | 14.87 | 6.7 | 15 | 970 | 11 |
| HEX (VI) | +270 | 6.66 | 15.0 | 34 | 1,320 | 22 |
| SEP (VII) | +300 | 5.89 | 17.0 | 38 | 1,760 | 25 |
| OCT (VIII) | +310 | 4.99 | 20.0 | 45 | 2,250 | 30 |
| NOV (IX) | +320 | 2.32 | 43.1 | 99 | 2,760 | 65 |
| DEC (X) | +350 | 1.74 | 57.5 | 132 | 3,280 | 85 |
The four pieces are Heavensmite (helmet), Abyssveil (armour), Oathgrip (gloves) and Furystride (shoes). Exclusive visual effects at PEN (V) and OCT (VIII). Crafting all four unlocks a once-per-family quest for the matching outfit and the permanent yellow title Godslayer of Legend.
Accessories — Kharazad to Ekreta or Aperon
Kharazad replaced Deboreka as best-in-slot. It enhances like armour rather than like an accessory, which is why this track is survivable: a failed Kharazad enhancement never destroys the accessory. The level drops by one and max durability falls. Crons prevent the drop, failstacks rise on failure as normal, and the line runs to DEC (X).
Getting your first PEN set — four routes, ranked
| Route | What it costs | When it is right |
|---|---|---|
| Alustin’s Support (Hyperboost) | 10× Essence of Dawn + 50× Sharp Black Crystal Shard per piece. Requires the Olvia Academy Admission quest. Once per family, all six slots. | Always, first. The cheapest PEN Kharazad in the game by an enormous margin. Do this before anything else here. |
| Deboreka exchange | Hand a TET (IV) Deboreka to NPC Clorince in Velia for a PEN (V) Kharazad + JIN Dawn Crystal – All AP. A PEN (V) Deboreka gives NOV (IX) Kharazad. | Unlimited after the one-time pre-quest. The main scaling route — Deboreka is tradable, so this is where market silver becomes Kharazad levels. |
| Craft from scratch | Essence of Dawn ×50 + Magical Shard ×300 + matching Deboreka ×1, via Manufacture (L). | When you have surplus Essence of Dawn and a cheap Deboreka. |
| DEC Tuvala exchange | Once per family: enhance a PEN Tuvala accessory to DEC with Essence of Dawn ×90 (guaranteed, no failstacks), then trade for a non-tradable TET Kharazad of your choice. | Roughly 9 billion Silver against about 15 billion to build a TET Kharazad from scratch. Worth doing, but it only lands you at TET. |
Deboreka accessories drop from the new Gavinya Coastal Cliff zone as well as existing sources, and are tradable. The TET-Deboreka exchange does not work on an accessory with a cup upgrade applied — extract the cup first. Do not forfeit an exchange quest after handing over the accessory; it cannot be recovered.
Kharazad enhancement — the hard numbers
Levels +0 through NOV (IX) consume Essence of Dawn; the final DEC (X) attempt consumes a Dawn Black Stone. Essence of Dawn is tradable with a Central Market cap of 100 million Silver. Dawn Black Stone is not tradable — it comes from Dark Rift bosses, guaranteed from Ferrid, Ahib Griffon and Dim Tree Spirit, and at a set probability from Red Nose, Bheg and Muskan.
| Step | Material | Base % | Soft cap FS | Max % | Avg tries | Unlucky 10% | Crons | Agris |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| +0 › PRI | Essence of Dawn ×1 | 16.3000 | 40 | 72.3720 | 1.4 | 2 | — | 3 |
| PRI › DUO | ×2 | 7.3000 | 60 | 51.1000 | 2.0 | 4 | 120 | 5 |
| DUO › TRI | ×3 | 4.5700 | 90 | 45.7000 | 2.2 | 4 | 280 | 7 |
| TRI › TET | ×4 | 2.8900 | 130 | 40.4600 | 2.5 | 5 | 540 | 8 |
| TET › PEN | ×6 | 1.9100 | 170 | 34.3800 | 2.9 | 6 | 840 | 10 |
| PEN › HEX | ×8 | 1.2900 | 200 | 27.0900 | 3.7 | 8 | 1,090 | 12 |
| HEX › SEP | ×10 | 0.8800 | 230 | 21.1200 | 4.7 | 10 | 1,480 | 15 |
| SEP › OCT | ×12 | 0.5700 | 260 | 15.3900 | 6.5 | 14 | 1,880 | 20 |
| OCT › NOV | ×15 | 0.3200 | 280 | 9.2800 | 10.8 | 24 | 2,850 | 25 |
| NOV › DEC | Dawn Black Stone ×1 | 0.1720 | 300 | 5.3320 | 18.8 | 43 | 3,650 | 30 |
Kharazad is the friendliest endgame enhancement in the game — use that
Compare the same nominal step at soft cap: Kharazad TET › PEN succeeds 34.38% of the time; Sovereign TET › PEN succeeds 7.50%. Kharazad OCT › NOV is 9.28% where Sovereign OCT › NOV is 1.50%. Because nothing is destroyed on failure, Kharazad is also where you can safely enhance without Cron protection and simply eat the level drops while your failstack climbs. Save Crons for Sovereign and Edana, where the pity counters are long and per-attempt costs far higher.
Emma Bartali’s Journal — free levels above PEN
Hyperboost adds a thirteen-chapter Adventure Log (Adventure (F5) › Adventure Log › Olvia Academy Growth Log) built to push Kharazad past PEN. Requires Igor Bartali’s Adventure Log Chapter 5 to start. The rewards are guaranteed-enhancement items, not chances.
| Ch. | Requirement | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Igor Bartali’s Adventure Log Chapter 5 complete | Advice of Valks (+180) ×2 |
| 2 | [Crow’s Nest] Crow’s Mercenary | Ancient Hammer – PEN (V) ×5 |
| 3 | [Promotion] PRI: Pit of Undying | Ancient Blackstone – PEN (V) ×1 |
| 4 | Merindola’s Blessing + Blessing of Biorencia | Essence of Dawn ×50 |
| 5 | [Land of Morning] Goblin’s Gift + The One Who Commands Taebaek | Ancient Hammer – PEN (V) ×5 |
| 6 | [Elvia] Kzarka: Barrier of Infestation V | Ancient Blackstone – PEN (V) ×1 |
| 7 | Black Shrine Donghaedo (Solo): Sangoon C9 | Advice of Valks (+210) ×2 |
| 8 | Black Shrine Donghaedo (Solo): Gumiho C9 | Ancient Hammer – HEX (VI) ×5 |
| 9 | Black Shrine Hwanghae-do (Party): Jigui, Hard | Ancient Blackstone – HEX (VI) ×1 |
| 10 | Black Shrine Hwanghae-do (Party): Bulgasal, Hard | Essence of Dawn ×50 |
| 11 | Black Shrine Hwanghae-do (Party): Uturi, Hard | Ancient Hammer – HEX (VI) ×5 |
| 12 | Black Shrine Hwanghae (Party): Bihyung, Hard | Ancient Blackstone – HEX (VI) ×1 |
| 13 | All 12 chapters complete, then talk to the Black Spirit | Ancient Black Stone – SEPT (VII) ×2 |
If you already hold higher accessories, these heat into Crons: Ancient Hammer PEN › 200, HEX › 300; Ancient Blackstone PEN › 1,000, HEX › 1,500, SEPT › 2,000. Primordial Hammer, Ancient Hammer and J’s Hammer of Loyalty each heat into 1,000 Crons; the four untradable Hyperboost armour pieces heat into 1,500 Crons each.
What comes after Kharazad: Ekreta and Aperon
Two new accessory lines arrive with Edania Part 2 on 12 August. Both carry AP and DP simultaneously, which is new for accessories, and both are enhanced with Edania Part 2 materials. Pearl Abyss shipped two so you can continue through Kharazad or bypass it entirely.
| Ekreta (Ekleta) | Aperon (Aperion / Apheron) | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | Exchange a NOV Kharazad for a base Ekreta; a DEC Kharazad gives a TET Ekreta | Start from base. Crafted from Edania Part 2 materials; no Kharazad required |
| Central Market | Cannot be listed | Can be listed — explicitly designed to be tradable to reduce the enhancement burden |
| Enhancement rules | Same as Kharazad — no destruction or downgrade on a failed Cron-protected attempt. Enhancement stone differs per accessory slot | Consumes a base Aperon accessory per attempt; described as harder to enhance than Ekreta |
| Best for | Players with deep Kharazad already invested | Players starting fresh, or anyone who would rather buy progress than roll for it |
TET: 45 AP / 3 DP · OCT: 48 AP / 4 DP · DEC: 50 AP / 6 DP — identical on both lines
The Hammer of Causality
A new hammer from the Heidel Ball login rewards, usable on Ekreta and Aperon accessories at PRI (I) or higher. Eight hammers including this one are given across the eight-week login event, alongside 25,000 Cron Stones. Do not burn these on low-value steps — a guaranteed enhancement is worth most where the success rate is lowest.
Reading the odds honestly
Failstacks and the soft cap
Every failed enhancement raises your Enhancement Chance by one stack. Each gear type has a point past which extra stacks stop adding value — the soft cap in the tables above. Stacking past it wastes the stack; stopping short of it leaves large amounts of success rate unclaimed. The difference is not marginal: Kharazad TET › PEN is 1.91% at zero stacks and 34.38% at its 170-stack cap, an eighteenfold difference.
Cron Stones
Crons prevent the level dropping on failure. They do not improve your success rate. Cost per attempt rises steeply, from 120 Crons at Kharazad PRI to 3,920 at Sovereign DEC. Spend them where a level drop would cost more than the Crons do — which is why they belong on Sovereign and Edana rather than Kharazad.
You are about to receive an unusual number of Crons
Between the BEYONDTHEJOURNEY coupon (50,000) and the eight-week login event (25,000), Heidel Ball 2026 delivers roughly 75,000 Cron Stones per account, plus whatever you generate heating surplus hammers and armour. The login portion arrives gradually between 30 July and 22 October, so pace your deep attempts rather than spending the coupon in one evening.
The Ancient Anvil (Agris’ Essence) pity
This is the mechanic that makes low-percentage enhancement rational. Failing accumulates Agris’ Essence toward a listed threshold; on reaching it you are guaranteed a success. That threshold is the Agris column in every table here. It converts an unbounded gamble into a bounded, budgetable cost — which is why the Hyperboost reductions on Slumbering Origin are worth more than their small numbers suggest.
Why the average is the wrong number
Enhancement outcomes are geometrically distributed, and that distribution has a long right tail. The average is dragged upward by rare disasters, so most players beat it while a minority does far worse. The Unlucky 10% column is the planning number: the attempt count within which nine players in ten are done, and one in ten is still going.
| Step | Success | Ten straight failures | What that means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kharazad TET › PEN | 34.38% | 1.5% | Comfortable. Failure runs are short. |
| Kharazad OCT › NOV | 9.28% | 37.8% | Ten failures in a row is normal, not bad luck. |
| Edana › PEN (V) | 14.87% | 20.0% | One session in five will feel cursed. |
| Edana › NOV (IX) | 2.32% | 79.1% | Expect to fail ten in a row. Plan for 43 attempts. |
| Sovereign TRI › TET | 10.01% | 34.8% | The first genuine wall. |
| Sovereign NOV › DEC | 0.75% | 92.7% | Averages 133 attempts. A pity grind, not a roll. |

Worst case with pity is the hard ceiling: you cannot need more than the pity threshold in failures plus the guaranteed attempt. Effective average caps the geometric average at that ceiling, which is the number to budget against when the pity is short. Assumes one Agris’ Essence per failure — confirm in your enhancement window.
Cron cost at expected attempts
Crons per attempt multiplied by expected attempts — what a fully protected push costs on average.
| Target | Kharazad | Sovereign | Edana |
|---|---|---|---|
| PRI (I) | — | — | — |
| DUO (II) | 235 | 914 | 1,886 |
| TRI (III) | 613 | 2,800 | 2,903 |
| TET (IV) | 1,335 | 7,792 | 3,884 |
| PEN (V) | 2,443 | 12,926 | 6,523 |
| HEX (VI) | 4,024 | 22,478 | 19,820 |
| SEP (VII) | 7,008 | 38,750 | 29,881 |
| OCT (VIII) | 12,216 | 74,751 | 45,090 |
| NOV (IX) | 30,711 | 183,572 | 118,966 |
| DEC (X) | 68,455 | 522,527 | 188,506 |
Against a Heidel Ball windfall of roughly 75,000 Crons, note that a single protected Sovereign NOV › DEC push averages over 500,000 — seven times the entire event payout. Deep Sovereign is a year-scale project, not a patch-cycle one.
The market sells you attempts, not progress
The question only has an answer once you know whether the thing can be bought at all. BDO’s endgame is deliberately structured so the most valuable items are untradable and the market exists mainly to sell you inputs. Start here.
| Item | Central Market | Consequence for you |
|---|---|---|
| Sovereign weapons | No | Crafted and enhanced by you. Free-box Blackstars are also untradable — buy the stones instead. |
| Primordial Crystal, Primordial Black Stone | Yes | The main silver-to-Sovereign conversion. Buy these rather than farming world bosses if silver-rich and time-poor. |
| Sovereign Reforge Stones | Yes | Buy the five effects you want outright; drop rates on the rarer effects are low. |
| Deboreka accessories | Yes | The main silver-to-Kharazad conversion. Buy TET Deboreka, exchange for PEN Kharazad. |
| Essence of Dawn | Yes — cap 100m | Buy freely. Every Kharazad step from +0 to NOV consumes it. |
| Dawn Black Stone | No | Dark Rift bosses only. Your DEC Kharazad timeline is set by Dark Rift, not by silver. |
| JIN / BON / WON Dawn Crystals | Yes | Buy. HAN Dawn Crystals cannot be listed — those you craft. |
| Cup accessory upgrades | Yes — cap 10bn | Buy when the reform effect matters more than the silver. |
| Ancient armour (Fallen God, Labreska, Dahn’s, Ator’s) | Yes | Base and enhanced pieces are both buyable — but Hyperboost gives all four free. Check that route first. |
| Hyperboost armour pieces | No | Untradable versions. Heat surplus for 1,500 Crons each. |
| Distorted / Silent Crystal of Origin | Yes | Buy protection for the expensive Slumbering steps. |
| Desperate Crystal of Origin | No | Manage Currency exchanges only; NPC value 10m. Hyperboost doubles the exchange count. |
| Ekreta accessories | No | Self-enhance only. |
| Aperon accessories | Yes | The one endgame accessory you can simply buy at level, from 12 August. |
| Tuvala gear | No | Season-bound throughout. |
Kharazad itself is acquired by crafting, Deboreka exchange, or the Hyperboost quest — the market route is to buy the Deboreka input rather than a finished Kharazad.
Four rules that hold up
- Never enhance what Hyperboost is about to give you. Until you have claimed the free PEN Kharazad set, the free Ancient armour, the fifth PEN Blackstar, both Garmoth’s Hearts and the 100 Embers, silver spent on those same items is wasted. This rule expires: Olvia Academy 3rd Class runs from 29/30 July only until the 11/12 November maintenance.
- Buy inputs, enhance outputs. Because the finished items are untradable, the market cannot sell you progress — only attempts. Buy Essence of Dawn, Primordial Black Stones, Deboreka and Crystals of Origin in bulk, then convert them yourself. Aperon is the one deliberate exception.
- Convert at the highest level you can reach. Every conversion is a step function. Wailing becomes base Edana; Obliterating becomes NOV (IX). TET Deboreka becomes PEN Kharazad; PEN Deboreka becomes NOV. NOV Kharazad becomes base Ekreta; DEC becomes TET. The extra input level buys many output levels, exactly where self-enhancement is most expensive.
- Match protection to the pity, not to the anxiety. Crons are worth most where the level drop is expensive and the pity is long — deep Sovereign and deep Edana. Players routinely protect cheap comfortable steps and then run out at the step that needed them.
Buying a PEN Deboreka to skip straight to NOV Kharazad
The most important silver-to-gear conversion in the game, and it deserves explicit arithmetic. The exchange at NPC Clorince is unlimited once the pre-quest is done, and pays out at two tiers: TET Deboreka returns PEN Kharazad, PEN Deboreka returns NOV (IX) Kharazad. Four enhancement levels, bought rather than rolled.
| Step | Success % | Avg tries | Essence of Dawn | Cron Stones |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PEN › HEX | 27.09 | 3.7 | 30 | 4,024 |
| HEX › SEP | 21.12 | 4.7 | 47 | 7,008 |
| SEP › OCT | 15.39 | 6.5 | 78 | 12,216 |
| OCT › NOV | 9.28 | 10.8 | 162 | 30,711 |
| Total | 26 | 316 | 53,958 |
Cron-protected at each step’s soft-cap failstack. Roughly one player in ten needs more than 8, 10, 14 and 24 attempts on the four steps, against the 4, 5, 7 and 11 averages shown.
The breakeven, stated plainly
Buy the PEN Deboreka instead of a TET whenever the price gap between them is less than about 316 Essence of Dawn plus about 54,000 Cron Stones. At the 100m Essence cap that is roughly 31.6 billion Silver in Essence alone; at 80m about 25.3bn; at 60m about 19.0bn — before Crons. Check both Deboreka prices and the Essence price, then compare. It also removes about 26 attempts’ worth of variance from your life. Where it flips is when PEN Deboreka supply is thin and its price gaps far above TET.
- It is repeatable. Unlike the once-per-family Hyperboost and DEC Tuvala routes, run it as many times as you can fund it.
- It does not compete for Crons. Sovereign and Edana need Crons badly; Kharazad does not, because failure never destroys the accessory.
- Do not roll TET Deboreka to PEN yourself. Deboreka is a normal accessory — a failed enhancement destroys it. If you want a PEN Deboreka, buy it.
Buying Ancient armour off the market
All four pieces are tradable, and so are their enhanced forms — Pearl Abyss confirmed this obliquely in the update history, noting the crafter’s family name is inscribed on the armor and remains there even when traded. So you can buy a Distorted, Silent or Wailing piece and skip that stretch entirely.
| Situation | Do this | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You own no Ancient armour | Take the four free Hyperboost pieces. Do not buy base pieces. | Base pieces cost real silver for something now handed out for clearing a Black Shrine boss at 305–315 AP. |
| You want to reach Wailing fast | Compare a market Wailing piece against your own enhancement cost from where you are | Wailing is the Edana conversion gate. Buying it skips several low-percentage steps. |
| You want NOV (IX) Edana | Get to Obliterating, however you get there | Obliterating converts to NOV (IX) Edana; Wailing converts to base. Nine free levels. |
| You hold a spare free piece | Heat the untradable Hyperboost piece for 1,500 Crons | The free pieces cannot be resold, but they are not worthless. |
How to price the decision without knowing the success rate
The pity counter caps your downside, so you can decide even where the published percentage is unavailable. Buy the higher piece if the price spread is less than your marginal self-enhance cost: marginal attempts × (Flawless Chaotic Black Stone + protection per attempt). With the post-patch Silent › Wailing pity of 20 you cannot need more than 21 attempts, whatever the rate. Two clean thresholds — if the spread exceeds 21 attempts’ worth of materials, never buy; if it is under about 7 attempts’ worth, buy.
Market worksheet
Prices differ by region and move daily, so the breakevens above are expressed in units of material to stay valid whatever silver does. These caps are game constants and are the same everywhere:
| Item | Constant | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Essence of Dawn | 100,000,000 Silver cap | The ceiling on your Kharazad cost. In tight supply it trades at cap. |
| Dawn’s Aura | 5,000,000 Silver NPC | Old Moon Manager. Fixed, unlimited. |
| Desperate Crystal of Origin | 10,000,000 Silver NPC | Not tradable; NPC value only. |
| Kharazad cup upgrades | 10,000,000,000 Silver cap | Destined Dawn, Callous Sun, Burgeoning Dusk, Reticent Moonbeams. |
| Purifying Pigment | 10,000,000 Silver NPC | Old Moon Shop, to reset effect dyes. |
Item IDs for price lookups
| Item | Item ID | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Essence of Dawn | 820979 | The linchpin price in every Kharazad calculation |
| Deboreka Necklace | 11653 | Enhancement level is usually a URL suffix — 0 base, 4 TET, 5 PEN |
| Deboreka Earring | 11882 | |
| Deboreka Ring | 12094 | |
| Deboreka Belt | 12276 | |
| Fallen God’s Armor | 719898 | Enhancement levels selectable |
Set the region selector to your own region on whichever market tracker you use. For Labreska’s Helmet, Dahn’s Gloves and Ator’s Shoes, search by name — those IDs are not verified here and are not guessed.
A standing warning on prices
Treat every price you look up this week as provisional. The 29/30 July patch removes a structural buyer from boss armour, adds a new top-tier Deboreka source at Gavinya Coastal Cliff, and injects roughly 75,000 Crons per account into the economy — and Edania Part 2 lands two weeks later. Re-check after 30 July, and expect Deboreka and Cron-adjacent goods to move most.

Once-per-family claims worth auditing

One deadline that will catch people out
Olvia Academy 2nd Class ends at the 29 July KR / 30 July Global maintenance, and every family that has not graduated is auto-graduated. All in-progress and completed 2nd-term class quests are reset and can be redone on re-enrolment. If you have partial progress and want the rewards, finish before the maintenance — and note that Family Rewards, Knight Titles and Academia Outfit Boxes already claimed cannot be claimed again.
Sources, and what could not be verified
Every figure here traces to a Pearl Abyss patch note or a translation of one. Where a number appears without a source it is arithmetic performed on a sourced number — the expected-attempt, unlucky-decile and failure-streak columns are all computed from published success rates, not quoted.

Gaps, stated rather than guessed
- Slumbering Origin per-step success percentages. The enhancement structure, materials, failure behaviour and new Agris’ Essence values are all verified, but a current published percentage table per step is not. Your in-game enhancement window shows these directly — use it over any third-party number.
- Ekreta and Aperon enhancement rates and material costs. Not yet published; the accessories arrive 12 August. Stats and mechanics here are from the Heidel Ball presentation and should be treated as pre-release.
- Official NA/EU spellings for the new accessories. Korean sources and translations give Ekreta/Ekleta and Aperon/Aperion/Apheron. The same applies to the new mount (Ferrica/Pelica) and sea monster (Lyngbakr/Linbark).
- Whether finished Kharazad accessories can be listed on the Central Market. Strong indirect evidence that they can: the DEC Tuvala exchange is specified as returning a non-tradable TET Kharazad, a pointless qualifier if Kharazad were untradable by default. No direct statement found, so this stops at strong evidence.
- Live silver prices. Deliberately excluded. Market trackers load prices client-side and any figure quoted here would be stale within the week, particularly across the 29/30 July patch.
